Sicap and RateIntegration, providers of customer loyalty management solutions for global communications service providers, have told OSS News Review about the selection and subsequent implementation of their Loyalty Manager (RLM v3) product at Zain Bahrain. Zain Bahrain is part of the Zain group, a leading mobile telecommunication operator in the Middle East and Africa with over $4 billion in annual revenue in 25 countries.

According to RateIntegration, “Zain Bahrain needed a loyalty solution that could be implemented rapidly without impacting their existing BSS systems and deliver immediate business impact through highly targeted, real-time promotions as well as traditional one-way campaigns.” Zain Bahrain will use the Loyalty Manager solution to launch a constantly changing array of targeted promotions to improve the customer experience, reduce churn, and encourage usage/ARPU and add new subscribers as well as maximize the revenue from the large number of roamers that visit its network daily.

Zain selected Sicap and RateIntegration through a competitive process with emphasis on a specific set of business and technical requirements including:

– Rapid implementation without any change to existing BSS/OSS systems
– Minimal impact on internal IT resources and projects both underway and scheduled
– Support for immediate creation and launch of any promotion in the context of very dynamic, creative marketing in the future
– Support for a potentially large number of constantly changing promotions
– Capability to process full usage in real-time in order to build custom subscriber statistical profiles for highly personalized, real-time offers Solution design that gives the business teams direct control over promotions and launch new promotions without costly and time consuming IT projects
– Turn-key system with very low on-going operational costs

Sicap and RateIntegration met all these criteria. The product was implemented in less than five weeks with almost no impact on Zain’s IT organization. The RLM v3 loyalty manager interfaces to a number of existing Zain systems to enable automated end-to-end delivery of promotions using the existing in-place BSS/OSS. Master subscriber records are referenced directly from existing billing and subscriber management platforms without data duplication.

The Loyal Manager solution creates messages and offers that are delivered through multiple existing outbound channels, all of which can be driven on-demand through the connection points established during the RLM integration.

The Loyalty Manager’s Catalog Manager (RCM) is a point and click promotions development environment that supports the rapid creation of any loyalty concept developed in Marketing. It then tracks subscriber behavior by direct processing of all usage records (XDRs for voice, SMS, data, reload events, etc.) in real-time and triggers highly personalized, targeted and timely promotions based on the promotion rules This powerful “third-generation” approach to loyalty management software is currently not available from other vendors.

RateIntegration, Inc., a leading provider of customer loyalty management solutions for communications service providers worldwide, has recently announced the general availability of version 3.0 of its Loyalty Manager (RLM) software suite.

Since its initial launch, RLM has been the leading end-to-end software solution that delivers measurable improvements not just in churn and ARPU, but also in new subscriber adds and new revenues through partners. RLM offers complete flexibility in developing real-time, event-triggered promotions using a zero-code promotions configuration interface for any loyalty concept. Gartner’s recently published reports indicate that service providers are generating “10-15 times the response rates from real-time and event triggered marketing promotions as compared to mass marketed campaigns”.

Powered by RateIntegration’s long-established industry-leading rules engine PriceMaker, RLM is designed to process in real-time any event feeds—including raw network usage (xDRs), enriched or rated records as well as high level business events from customer care and partner systems.

RLM’s unique design ensures ready integration into an operator’s BSS framework such that real-time data capture is possible and that existing subscriber profiles can be used in RLM without data duplication. As a result, unlike traditional campaign management tools, RLM is an integrated online application that enables automated delivery of interactive, phased promotions messaging and rewards using existing BSS components and their diverse outbound marketing channels (SMS/MMS, USSD, call centers, CRM contact points, portals, billing, etc.).

RLM 3.0 is operational at a number of existing customer accounts. Please contact the company for detailed product and pricing information.

RateIntegration, the leading provider of advanced rating solutions for service providers, has recently told OSS News Review about the selection and successful implementation of its Advanced Rating Server (ARS 3.0) software by iBasis (NASDAQ: IBAS), a leading international long distance carrier and a provider of retail prepaid calling services and enhanced services for mobile operators.

iBasis selected RateIntegration to provide a comprehensive real-time rating and margin analysis solution that leverages iBasis’ existing business support systems. iBasis will use RateIntegration’s ARS 3.0 solution to support customer and partner billing and settlement processes for over 4,000 carrier-customers and vendors throughout the world. In addition, ARS 3.0’s high-performance processing will enable flexible real-time margin reporting and revenue analysis for iBasis’ business analysts.

“We are delighted that iBasis has selected ARS 3.0 to support its wholesale voice customer base,” stated Thomas Thekkethala, CEO of RateIntegration. “iBasis recognizes the strategic importance of acquiring a state-of-the-art solution for real-time billing and margin analysis to meet their very demanding, high-volume processing challenges. ”

“iBasis chose RateIntegration’s ARS 3.0 after a careful review of the other leading solutions in the marketplace,” stated Paul Floyd, Sr. Vice President of Global Products, Network and Systems at iBasis, “The RateIntegration solution stood out as the right solution because of its powerful combination of scaleable processing and proven robustness as a stand-alone system. Further, ARS 3.0’s unique design enabled us to implement quickly, leverage our existing systems and processes, and put in place a system with very low total cost of ownership going forward.”

ARS 3.0 introduces a radically new BSS architecture into the industry that enables extremely flexible pricing and cost computations and that supports the delivery of rated information in real-time for back-end billing, margin reporting, and revenue analysis. The resulting control and insight into the complex dynamics of iBasis’ wholesale business is a powerful competitive advantage for the company.

By deploying RateIntegration’s Advanced Rating Server, iBasis has ensured a robust, scaleable process for real-time rating and reporting on its high volume CDR flow. Having completed a merger with KPN Wholesale in late 2007, iBasis is established as one of the three largest international wholesale voice carriers in the world, carrying approximately 24 billion minutes in 2007. Growth rates in CDRs have exceeded 25% per year and are anticipated to grow at or beyond this pace into the future.

RateIntegration, Inc., a leading provider of 3rd-generation Revenue Life Cycle Management (RLM) solutions for the telecom and Internet 2.0 market, has told OSS News Review that its ARS 3.0 Advanced Rating Server product has been selected by Chess Communications AS, Scandinavia’s leading Service Provider.

Chess has signed a new contract with Sergel/RateIntegration, following their successful cooperation since February 2005. RateIntegration’s ARS 3.0 Advanced Rating Server is at the heart of the Sergel service bureau, with many major carrier-customers in the Scandinavian region, generating subscriptions rating calls, SMS and MMS messages as well as WAP sessions.

The Service Bureau provides Rating, Billing, Accounts Receivable, Customer Care and Customer Self Care services that span the entire Chess product portfolio and will cover all the market segments where Chess is active. Within the long-standing RateIntegration-Sergel relationship since 2003, Sergel has implemented RateIntegration’s rating technology in multiple systems, most importantly, as the pricing and rating element of its Billionaire Billing Services – http://www.sergel.com/upload/EN/Produkter/produktblad_services.pdf

Chess’ advanced bundling, pricing, and discount/promotions are handled by Billionaire. One of the most critical factors responsible for the success of Chess has been its unsurpassed time to market for new bundles, price plans and subscriptions. With 92% of the Norwegian mobile market shared by TeliaSonera and its competitor Telenor, penetration of this market was already extremely high, and there was little scope for more growth without significant service innovation or the allocation of a large budget to acquiring and retaining customers. With its flexible rules based engine and configuration-driven architecture. RateIntegration’s ARS 3.0 Advanced Rating Server delivered on the former enabling Chess its competitive edge.

Comments Mr. Arve Andreassen, CTO, Chess Communication AS, “Apart from its excellent performance and accuracy, RateIntegration facilitates our most critical success factor – our ability to be the fastest player in the Norwegian market. The key to our success is to be innovative and offer the highly sophisticated Scandinavian mobile customers, attractive new offers, bundles, promotions and discounts as fast as our marketing experts conceive of these. Whether these are community offers or complex prepaid-postpaid hybrid subscriptions, we can get these out fast. It is all about loyalty, and the key to creating loyal customers is to be faster and more innovative than our competitors in responding to new demands. I am delighted to summarize that the Advanced Rating Server has met all our expectations in facilitating this.”

Imran Jan, EVP of business development at RateIntegration considers this win to be “…proof that the RateIntegration product set is poised to replace a significant share of obsolete and rigid rating engines that exist inside current billing systems. A small investment in an advanced rating product like our ARS 3.0, followed by a deployment of our 3rd-generation loyalty management product, RLM 3.0, could transform a service provider or carrier with legacy BSS investments from playing catch-up to becoming an industry-leader.”

RateIntegration, Inc., a leading provider of 3rd-generation Revenue Life Cycle Management (RLM) solutions for the telecom and Internet 2.0 market, has told OSS News Review that they have successfully implemented its Advanced Rating Server at Zain (formerly MTC), a $4.2 billion mobile telecommunications provider in the Middle East and Africa.

The solution, deployed by RateIntegration’s solution partner Tech Mahindra, enables Zain-Kuwait to rate, discount and bundle both pre and post paid voice, data and content as well as offer promotions that improve customer retention. The solution has helped Zain reduce its time-to-market for new services from several months to days or weeks while reducing on-going maintenance and enhancement costs for additional pricing and services being launched. This is Tech Mahindra’s second successful implementation of the Advanced Rating Server at Zain, following last year’s award-winning deployment at Zain, Jordan.

“RateIntegration’s Advanced Rating Server offered extreme simplicity of use while the domain expertise that Tech Mahindra brought to the project made the whole implementation smooth” said Mohamed Rafi, Zain Group CIO.

Zain has a reputation for pioneering new services and is reinforcing its leadership position in Kuwait by adopting customer driven marketing strategies. Growing competition has driven the need for increased flexibility to rapidly launch new products and services. Zain also wanted a convergent solution that would leverage their existing BSS investments rather than go through a long and expensive migration and implementation.

“I always felt that, given Zain’s global scale of operations, it was imperative that we looked at a modular approach to creating our OSS and BSS stacks. As a first step, ZAIN has decided to enhance its rating capability by implementing the Advanced Rating Solution. This fully flexible and rules based rating engine provides great flexibility to our marketing teams to come up with unique service and price offerings to the market in record time” said Saleh Al-Houti, Zain’s IT Director.

RateIntegration’s Advanced Rating Server helped Zain achieve their business goals through a non-disruptive, zero-system-outage implementation while leveraging their existing BSS infra-structure. Based on the results at Zain-Jordan, the solution is expected to save Zain-Kuwait hundreds of man-days per year of “enhancement and maintenance project time” a well as improve the product launch times for new pricing models, bundles and service by over 75%. Zain plans to use the solution to model and implement all future products and offerings.

The web event will provide a strategic overview of loyalty management and explore how service providers can leverage the experiences of other industries using loyalty programs for greater customer satisfaction and retention.

RateIntegration, Inc., the leading provider of Revenue Lifecycle Management (RLM) solutions to the Communications, Entertainment, Information and Financial Services markets world-wide, has told OSS News Review that it will sponsor a webinar, “Loyalty in the Converged World” on September 6, 2007 at 10a.m.-11a.m. EDT (2p.m. – 3p.m. GMT)

The web event will provide a strategic overview of loyalty management in the communications industry and explore how convergent communications providers can leverage the lessons of other industries’ on using loyalty programs for greater customer satisfaction and retention. This opportunity is ripe with possibility, as evidenced by hugely popular points/rewards programs in other retail-focused industries. Last year, for example, American Airlines processed 4 million frequent-flyer awards in its program alone. Recent market studies indicate that US postpaid customers would be very receptive to similar programs driven by their telecommunications provider.

For the Webinar, Ms. Shira Levine, a senior OSS/BSS analyst at IDC, will provide market perspectives and lessons from other industries on loyalty; Mr. Magnus Lindgren, VP at Sergel-TeliaSonera, will discuss operational experiences at TeliaSonera regarding loyalty and advanced discounting and will present emerging requirements in this area within the competitive Scandanavian mobile market; and, finally, product management leads Dr. Bert J Dempsey, RateIntegration, and Mr. Stefan Stoffels, Sicap, will overview from a product management viewpoint the BSS challenges and illustrate how these challenges are met by an innovative new loyalty control platform from their companies.

The new RateIntegration-Sicap promotions and loyalty platform is based on RateIntegration’s highly-acclaimed PriceMaker Enterprise Pricing Server v8.0 – a leading-edge rules-based pricing platform in production use at over 20 major carriers around the globe.

As an overlay to existing BSS, the platform provides a quick, non-disruptive path for operators to take control of their valued customer relationships for improved customer satisfaction and for greater spend through promotions and partner affiliate programs and promotions.

In the new PriceMaker-based loyalty platform, operators can use all the power of PriceMaker’s unique spreadsheet-based rules system to roll out new promotions and loyalty logic within hours with its business-analyst-friendly user interface.

Further, the new offering leverages PriceMaker’s flexible, scalable, and configuration-driven architecture to provide very high-scale event processing and management, real-time interfaces as well as batch processing, and unlimited flexibility in promotions logic and other business rules. Additional on-platform features include scheduled time-triggered events, loyalty accounts, and on-demand points creation.

RateIntegration, the leading provider of Revenue Lifecycle Management Solutions, and Sicap AG, a leading software company specializing in mobile applications for wireless carriers, have recently announced that Swisscom Mobile has gone live with Sicap’s Price Broker Suite for pre-paid revenue assurance.

Sicap’s Price Broker Suite has been deployed as an online system for the re-pricing of network calls and data sessions. This system provides revenue assurance on all prepaid services for Swisscom Mobile’s 1.6 million prepaid subscribers. The Price Broker Suite solution handles all the Revenue Assurance functions of Swisscom Mobile’s previous solution while also addressing new business requirements for revenue assurance related to pricing models, call scenarios, and data services.

The Sicap Price Broker Suite is part of RateIntegration’s PriceMaker Enterprise Pricing Server, which Swisscom Mobile is using to gain flexibility, control leakage and increase subscriber loyalty. Combining Sicap’s Price Broker Suite with RateIntegration’s PriceMaker Enterprise Pricing Server enables Swisscom Mobile to:

· Manage multiple revenue streams for voice, messaging and data/content in real-time

· Cover all business domains i.e. roaming partners, content providers, dealer network

· Quickly and easily integrate MVNO`s

· Ensure SOX compliance of Revenue Assurance Operations and Reporting

· Easy implementation of standard tariffs and tactical promotional offers

· Provide flexible standard reporting & configurable alerting mechanism

· Offer an analytic user-interface for fraud investigation and probing

The PriceMaker software architecture offers extremely flexible real-time pricing and a framework that has facilitated a very rapid deployment at Swisscom Mobile. For revenue assurance solutions, these capabilities enable companies to deploy solutions quickly and provide a cost-effective approach to implementing business rules for comprehensive re-pricing of call scenarios.

PriceMaker’s integrated business rules editor allows business stakeholders and analysts to directly author and verify pricing policies in real-time thereby eliminating the involvement – and associated extra time and costs – needed from technical staff. The real-time editing capability is critical to ensure that Swisscom Mobile’s revenue assurance solution can evolve as new services are offered or as new MVNOs are added to Swisscom’s business model. Furthermore, PriceMaker-enabled solutions have been designed to be IMS-ready so that operators can take advantage of the emerging 3GPP standards framework for monetizing IP services.

“We are excited about the quality of Sicap’s Price Broker application and the speed in which the platform has been developed and deployed. Very seldom do we receive such innovative and mature solutions for acceptance,” said Rose Moura, Director, Revenue Assurance at Swisscom Mobile. “Sicap’s technology has fulfilled all our requirements and we plan use it for future revenue assurance related programs.”

Kam Mehta, channel and business development manager for Sicap AG added, “We are happy that Swisscom Mobile chose to leverage our revenue assurance solution and look forward in supporting them in a production environment. Solutions such as the one we implemented for Swisscom Mobile help carriers to improve flexibility and increase subscriber loyalty.”

“We are excited about working with Sicap to deliver state-of-the-art revenue assurance at Swisscom Mobile,” said Thomas Thekkethala, CEO of RateIntegration. “With the economics, performance, and capabilities of PriceMaker-based solutions, carriers can implement granular, robust, real-time assurance solutions that bring an immediate return on investment.”

Kognitio, a leading provider of solutions to business problems that require acquisition, rationalisation and analysis of both large and complex data and RateIntegration, the leading providers of Revenue Lifecycle Management solutions, have recently announced the general availability of Pricing Appliance v2.0, the enhanced, telecom operator-focused version of the sophisticated rules-based pricing engine.

Pricing Appliance v2.0 is a flexible price-modelling and analysis appliance which enables telecom operators to load, explore and analyse full volumes of business-time and historical data. Ideal for tariff design, margin and cost analysis, product and customer profitability analytics and revenue assurance, Pricing Appliance allows users to achieve business goals such as maximising revenue and margin at a significantly lower cost of ownership than other solutions.

‘Pricing Appliance 2.0 is good news for both business users and the IT department: the former are enabled to run price modelling and analysis queries directly and more freely, while the latter can reclaim valuable time, giving organisations the power to drive profitability’ said Roger Llewellyn, CEO at Kognitio. ‘Whether you need to analyse cost and revenue assurance, repricing and modelling, or profitability Pricing Appliance is the most effective tool for the job.’

‘We are thrilled to be working closely with Kognitio to combine the analytical power and throughput of WX2 with RateIntegration’s PriceMaker Enterprise Pricing Server,’ said Thomas Thekkethala, CEO at RateIntegration. ‘In the telecom space profits are generated by the sum of billions of small amounts and hence operators need to be able to test proposed pricing structures on real data not just a fraction of it. Pricing Appliance allows them to easily and quickly run new tariff tests on full data volumes thus giving them the full and true picture.’

Examples of benefits already generated by Pricing Appliance include:

·         Modelling: a leading UK telecom operator saved £40M over three years;

·         Customer pricing: leading EU telecom operator generated additional €28M per year;

·         Modelling ‘bundles’: a tier 1 quad-play telecom operator realised a €12M revenue increase;

· Assurance/audit: a leading UK telecom operator saved £1.3M by auditing tier 1 telco bills received from interconnect billing operators

Pricing and Availability

Pricing Appliance 2.0 is available now from Kognitio through a ‘try before you buy’ promotion. In addition, today users can purchase a license to deploy the appliance as an in-house solution; alternatively Kognitio offers Pricing Appliance as part of an outsourced contract.
