Cerillion Technologies, an innovative provider of next generation customer management systems, recently announced the completed implementation of its convergent CRM and billing solution for Spring Mobil, Sweden’s fourth GSM mobile license holder. Based on femtocell technology, Spring Mobil’s FMC service offers dedicated GSM networks to enterprise customers, enabling them to use a single GSM handset as an internal phone extension at work and as a standard mobile phone outside the office.

The Cerillion solution enables Spring Mobil’s sales and customer service staff to manage the complete order-to-cash lifecycle efficiently, while corporate end-users have the flexibility to administer their own services and virtual PBX using the online self-service interface. The system’s powerful rating engine and flexible mediation modules enable complex on-net and off-net calling scenarios to be turned into revenue generating services through configuration only.

Spring Mobil’s billing requirements are complex as calls made in the office are charged at different rates from those made outside. Cerillion’s CRM and billing solution streamlines these processes and accounts for differentiated tariffs and special discounts. The system’s online self-service module also empowers Spring Mobil’s clients to maintain their own services, helping to deliver very high customer satisfaction.

Established in 1999, Cerillion Technologies provides carrier-grade CRM & billing, interconnect, mediation and provisioning solutions to fixed, mobile, IP and convergent telecom operators worldwide. The Cerillion bundled component solution suite supports any deployment model: as an end-to-end pre-integrated business support system, managing the complete lifecycle of customers, products, services and revenues; in a mixed deployment, where selected modules may be replaced by 3rd party applications; or in a pure best-of-breed solution. The system is also fully operational as a complete managed service solution. Cerillion solutions deliver the business agility needed to respond quickly and effectively in a highly competitive environment. For more information, please visit www.cerillion.com.

Spring Mobil is the fourth GSM mobile license holder in Sweden and is pioneering an innovative new service model, which involves the replacement of traditional, PBX, office telephone systems with standard GSM technology.

Cerillion Technologies, has announced a new contract to supply its convergent CRM and billing solution to Talkmobile, a division of The Carphone Warehouse and part of Best Buy Europe, to support its MVNO activities in the UK. Under the terms of the five year agreement, Cerillion will host and operate the system as a managed service and provide migration from Talkmobile’s legacy systems.

Following a thorough and intensive selection process, Talkmobile selected Cerillion due to its track record of delivering MVNO solutions and proven time-to-market advantage for launching new services. Also key to the selection were Cerillion’s well established API layer and the thin-client CRM interface, enabling easy integration with Talkmobile’s IT systems and low impact deployment to its call centres.

Cerillion Technologies, a leading provider of pre-integrated business support systems (BSS), is celebrating its tenth birthday this month. At a time of turbulence for the telecoms industry, the London-based firm has grown dynamically and recorded outstanding successes over the past decade, including some pioneering landmark achievements:

– Cerillion has grown from 5 customers at launch to more than 40 system installations worldwide, including implementations for leading industry players such as Essar, Tele2 and Tiscali.
– Cerillion systems are service-agnostic and are in live operation supporting everything from fixed line, mobile, broadband and convergent multi-service operators to resellers, MVNOs and femtocell-based FMC providers.
– The company has expanded its global footprint and opened its Global Solution Centre in Pune, India. It currently has customers in Europe, North America, Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean.
– In 2001, Cerillion provided customer care and billing for the world’s first commercial UMTS network.
– Cerillion systems also supported the world’s first live launch of HSDPA services in 2005.
– In 2006, Cerillion was named one of Britain’ fastest-growing private technology companies in the Sunday Times Microsoft Tech Track 100.
– In 2007, the company helped Manx Telecom to become the first operator in the world to achieve BABT compliance for billing accuracy of both fixed and mobile services.
– In 2008, Cerillion changed the market with the launch of Cerillion Express, a complete pre-integrated and pre-configured CRM and billing package, which can be delivered in just 10 weeks and offers an exceptionally low total cost of ownership.
– Today, Cerillion delivers a mix of CRM, billing, charging, provisioning, mediation and interconnect solutions.
– The company has grown from just 12 staff at launch to more than 140 employees.

As it moves into its second decade, Cerillion is maintaining its focus on organic product development rather than technology acquisition. The company is continuing to invest in its R&D programme to increase the overall functional footprint and depth of its product suite.

Recently, Cerillion unveiled its Total Convergence Architecture (TCA), a new flexible model for telecoms operators based on the TM Forum’s highly-respected Application Framework (TAM).

Leading Nigerian private telecoms operator, ZOOMmobile (formerly Reltel Wireless) has gone live with Interconnect Manager from convergent billing and interconnect specialist, Cerillion Technologies. The implementation marks an extension of the existing relationship between the two companies, which began in 2006 with the successful delivery of Cerillion’s Mediator product on ZOOMmobile’s CDMA network.

Under the terms of the new agreement, Cerillion Interconnect Manager will support ZOOMmobile in achieving its revenue assurance goals by enabling it to bill interconnect partners accurately and to efficiently reconcile invoices received.

This implementation represents the first time Cerillion has delivered its Interconnect Manager product on an Intel-based Sun platform running the Solaris operating system. The use of this platform enables Cerillion to deliver an enhanced price performance ratio for its customers. In line with this, Cerillion is comfortably able to process 25 million interconnect call detail records (CDRs) per hour for ZOOMmobile.

The Nigerian interconnect market is more complex than most because of the use of third-party clearing houses as well as direct operator-to-operator agreements. The versatility of Cerillion’s solution enables operators to manage both models very effectively.

“The rapidly growing African telecoms market offers exciting opportunities for technology companies,” says Louis Hall, Cerillion’s chief executive. “Providers capable of delivering effective interconnect management functionality continue to be in demand from operators with an urgent requirement for revenue assurance and efficient settlement.”

Kenneth Aigbinode, vice chairman, ZOOMmobile, says: “For us, the Cerillion implementation is part of an ongoing programme to increase efficiency and manage costs. Cerillion’s Mediator solution has played an important role in helping to enhance our revenue assurance over recent years. Further building on this success, Cerillion’s Interconnect Manager will allow us to exercise close control over our interconnect costs and optimise on the best available interconnect routes.”

Today, Cerillion Technologies launched Mediator Plus, a new convergent online and offline mediation system. The solution has been designed to support the sophisticated charging requirements of operators as they rollout real-time next generation communications services to their entire customer base.

Mediator Plus is the first new product delivered as part of Cerillion’s Total Convergence Architecture (TCA) – a flexible model that helps telecom operators address the critical challenges of converging their prepaid and postpaid platforms.

Mediator Plus enables operators to tap into new revenue generation opportunities. It solves complex data integration challenges in one single platform, supporting any combination of online and offline processing. In addition, it has been designed to minimize implementation efforts in a user-friendly manner, providing an unprecedented speed of deployment and ease of operation.

Operator-specific mediation processes and policies can be modeled configured, deployed, and maintained through Mediator Plus’ intuitive graphical user interface. The system also uses a core set of functional components to provide comprehensive rules-based processing capabilities. A powerful just-in-time compiled scripting language allows the user to specify the behavior of these components and the type of processing to be performed.

Mediator Plus also supports all the main charging interface protocols, including Diameter, and has been built for carrier-grade operation, supporting real-time N+1 high-availability configurations.

“Many technology vendors today offer separate online and offline mediation systems. Aligned within our flexible TCA framework, Mediator Plus enables operators to conduct all of the same processes on a single convergent platform,” says Louis Hall, Cerillion’s chief executive. “We believe the enhanced efficiency that Mediator Plus delivers will be a source of competitive advantage for operators as they gear up to offer a new generation of real-time services.”

Visit Cerillion at the Mobile World Congress, 16-19th February 2009, Fira de Barcelona, Hall 2, Booth 2D65.

Convergent billing specialist, Cerillion Technologies, unveiled its Total Convergence Architecture (TCA), a new flexible model for telecoms operators based on a highly-respected industry standard framework – the TM Forum’s Telecom Application Map (TAM). The firm’s TCA is designed to help operators move to the next generation of customer management by addressing the challenges of prepaid-postpaid convergence, which until now have remained an unobtainable goal for most telecoms providers.

Dominic Smith, marketing director, Cerillion Technologies, said, “Driven by the necessity to develop and sustain their customer base, grow average revenue per user (ARPU) and lower capex and opex, operators have reached the critical point where they must embrace the convergence of their prepaid and postpaid platforms.”

He added, “Until now, this migration has been held back by the lack of a coherent infrastructure or methodology. The development and launch of TCA helps remove these barriers, giving operators the platform they need to put true convergence into practice.”

Cerillion’s TCA has the flexibility to allow operators to pick and mix components from both billing vendors and network suppliers, utilizing standards-based interfaces such as Diameter to fulfil the integration. It also supports phased deployment and upgrades, with real benefits being delivered at each stage on the path to total convergence.

With TCA, Cerillion is helping operators achieve business improvement at all layers of the Telecom Application Map, covering sales and marketing, product management, customer management, service management, and resource management.

“Previous convergence models have been largely geared to a one-size-fits-all approach,” says Louis Hall, chief executive officer, Cerillion Technologies. “We believe that our approach is completely different.”

He continued, “Our flexible TCA framework reflects the fact that each operator faces a different set of challenges specific to their own market. With this in mind, we have focused on enabling operators to deploy convergence in a way which suits their individual business rather than one dictated by the vendor.”

Econet Wireless Kenya, start-up mobile communications provider, is set to go live with the Interconnect Manager solution from convergent billing and interconnect specialist, Cerillion Technologies.

Econet is part of Econet Wireless International, a well-established diversified telecommunications group, with operations in more than nine countries in Africa, Europe and the East Asia Pacific Rim. The expansion into Kenya has been made possible due to substantial investment by Indian telecoms company, Essar Communications Holdings.

Under the agreement, Cerillion Interconnect Manager will support Econet in achieving its revenue assurance goals by enabling it to bill interconnect partners accurately and to efficiently reconcile invoices received. “Cerillion stood out as providing the ideal interconnect solution for our demanding requirements,” confirms Michael Foley, CEO, Econet Wireless Kenya. “As a start-up operation, it is essential that we generate interconnect revenues and effectively manage our national and international interconnect costs from day one” he added.

With an existing customer base in West Africa, the agreement with Econet provides the opportunity for Cerillion to expand its footprint into East Africa for the first time. “The fast-growing African telecoms market offers many exciting opportunities,” said Louis Hall, Cerillion’s chief executive. ”The need for efficient interconnect management is becoming an increasingly urgent issue for operators requiring revenue assurance and efficient settlement.”

Hall believes that this marks the first step in what he hopes will be an expanding and mutually beneficial relationship: “The agreement is based on a group licensing model, which will enable Econet Wireless to roll out similar schemes into other African countries in the future,” he confirmed.

The first edition of the new solution, Cerillion Express for Mobile, is targeted at mobile service providers who require a proven business support system to support their mobile operations. Using core components of Cerillion’s bundled component product suite, the solution covers the entire customer lifecycle from initial sales and order handling to billing and collections. The solution also includes the integration of prepaid and postpaid services. Other flavors of Cerillion Express will soon be available, being tailored to other sectors of the telecoms market.

“With Cerillion Express we are able to dramatically lower the entry barrier for operators who want a complete solution to support their end-to-end customer management and billing processes,” says Guy O’Connor, business development director, Cerillion Technologies. “Based on best practice configuration and process support, Cerillion Express also delivers optimal system performance and can be run with a very small operations team or operated on a wholly managed service basis.”

“Cerillion Express is able to grow easily in breadth and sophistication, enabling operators to add extra functionality as and when required,” he added. “We have drawn on more than ten years’ experience and expertise of CRM and billing projects to build the solution, so that our customers benefit by being able to focus on critical ‘go to market’ decisions without the distraction of system constraints or integration issues.”

The turnkey solution incorporates a full suite of professional services, including implementation in ten weeks; complete product and operations training; and a support and maintenance service, based on defined service level agreements. In addition to the full managed service option, the solution can be provided under a build-operate-transfer model, which offers a managed service for the first year of system operation.
