BT Diamond IP Commissioned Cost Benefit Study of IP Address Management Systems

10:26 am   -   October 10th, 2008

Customer experienced cost benefits of nearly $3.4 million, 242 percent return on investment

A recent study conducted by Forrester Consulting on behalf of BT Diamond IP determined the economic value companies and organizations can derive by implementing an automated Internet Protocol Address Management (IPAM) system.

The Forrester study, based on in-depth interviews with a BT Diamond IP customer with global reach and 60,000 employees, found the following:

*** A 242 percent return on investment;

*** Breakeven within six and a half months of full deployment; and

*** Cost savings of nearly $3.4 million over three years, based on reallocation and reduction in headcount, productivity savings, and reduction in servers and associated licensing, maintenance and power costs.

“As enterprises come to rely more heavily on their IP networks to run critical business applications, they should seriously consider upgrading the management of their IP address space. As this study shows, BT Diamond IP’s advanced IPAM solutions provide clearly demonstrated value to our clients through operational efficiency gains,” said Rick Tallman, BT Diamond IP senior vice president. “Substantial ongoing cost savings can be realized using our advanced IPAM features such as granular administrator controls, audit reports, network discovery and reclaim, and more.”

The Forrester study concluded that “companies looking to implement the BT Diamond IP suite of IPAM solutions can see labor cost savings, hardware cost savings, and energy cost savings” and further states that “many companies may find the potential for a compelling business case to make such an investment.”
