Brazil’s Telefónica Vivo Sets New Mobile Services in Motion with HP

9:07 am   -   March 5th, 2013

HP Enterprise Services recently announced that Telefónica Vivo, the largest mobile operator in Brazil, is using HP technology to accelerate the introduction of new mobile services to millions of subscribers.

Telefónica Vivo recently adopted the HP Mobile Subscriber Activation Solution to help reach its goal of reducing time to market for activation of 3G mobile and 4G long-term evolution (LTE) users. The solution allows Telefonica Vivo to define, organize and automate the tasks required to configure and activate a service across platforms, network elements and application servers. This allows the company to deliver services to market faster, while improving the activation process quality by reducing the number of activations requiring manual intervention.

HP Enterprise Services announced that Telefónica Vivo, the largest mobile operator in Brazil, is using HP technology to accelerate the introduction of new mobile services to millions of subscribers.

Telefónica Vivo delivers a wide range of telecommunication services, including landline, voice over IP, broadband and mobile services, to more than 80 million subscribers throughout Brazil.

To help reach its goal of reducing time to market for activation of 3G mobile and 4G long-term evolution (LTE) users, Telefónica Vivo recently adopted the HP Mobile Subscriber Activation Solution, part of the HP Operations Support System (OSS) portfolio. This will enable Telefónica Vivo to make an important step toward realizing its mission of creating conditions that enable more people to connect quickly and efficiently to the services they want anytime, anywhere, allowing them to live in a more humane, secure, intelligent and fun way.

Using the HP Mobile Subscriber Activation Solution enables Telefónica Vivo to define, organize and automate the tasks required to configure and activate a service across platforms, network elements and application servers. This allows the company to deliver services to market faster, while improving the activation process quality by reducing the number of activations requiring manual intervention. By delivering mobile services faster and more reliably, Telefónica Vivo is able to enhance its customers’ experience while realizing faster time to revenue.

The HP Mobile Subscriber Activation Solution is based on HP Service Activator, which provides the framework required to help clients deliver, modify or retire a service, including adaptable workflows, network plug-ins and robust management services. A market-leading service activation solution, HP Service Activator will be used to activate multivendor network elements, network managers and systems throughout Telefónica Vivo’s mobile core network and value-added services platforms.

The solution is configured to provide off-the-shelf activation for mobile subscribers, seamless connectivity with devices from major equipment vendors and codeless introduction of new services—all of which aim to reduce the total cost of ownership.

“Millions of new mobile devices are activated every day, with subscribers challenging communication service providers (CSPs) to instantly deliver content anywhere, at any time and on any device,” said David Sliter, vice president and general manager, Communications, Media and Entertainment, HP Enterprise Services. “By working with HP, CSPs can leverage our software, technical expertise and extensive global resources to speed activation times and improve service experience for their customers.”

Additional information about HP solutions for CSPs is available at www.hp.com/go/oss.

HP’s premier Americas client event, HP Discover, takes place June 11-13 in Las Vegas.
