Atlantique Telecom Contract Extension Awarded to Intec Consolidates Market Reach in Africa

8:17 am   -   October 21st, 2008

Today, Intec, a global provider of business and operations support systems (BSS/OSS), announced a contract extension with Atlantique Telecom, one of the fastest growing GSM operators in West and Central Africa. Intec will supply its market-leading InterconnecT software to Atlantique mobile subsidiaries throughout French-speaking Africa, on a single centralized platform deployment. The implementation makes Intec the undisputed leader in the African wholesale billing market, with now close to 40 operators using its technology.

The announcement follows Intec’s successful installation in Abidjan for Moov Ivory Coast, one of Atlantique’s key subsidiaries. The next four Moov operations in Benin, Burkina Faso, Niger, and the Central African Republic have already gone live with the Intec Interconnect deployment all ahead of schedule. Togo and Gabon will follow shortly.

One of the key aspects of that deal is that the same InterconnecT platform will be shared by all Atlantique subsidiaries; remote access on the system hosted in Abidjan allows seamless and secure use of the system by the different countries. Following the exceptionally smooth installation of the original Intec InterconnecT platform at Moov Côte d’Ivoire, Atlantique saw a rapid ROI.

“Our commercial challenge was to reduce our wholesale costs for national and international interconnect traffic while continuing with our sustained expansion, and Intec has met this without fault,” commented Aboubacar Coulibaly, Group IT Director at Atlantique Telecom. “Intec’s high-performance, powerful and accurate solutions have already made a significant contribution to our billing challenge and we would not want to work with a more professional and supportive technology partner.”

“We are delighted to be working alongside the Atlantique team to deliver another showcase implementation, demonstrating how Intec InterconnecT can effectively support multiple franchises on the same platform,” concluded Gary Burch, VP EMEA for Intec. “We have shown through our relationship with Atlantique that Intec should be the first choice for operators needing the most comprehensive billing solution, delivering quick and clear commercial benefits.”

Intec InterconnecT is the world’s leading wholesale settlement product, installed in over 70 of the world’s top 100 network operators. The product’s flexibility, scalability, and reliability enables operators to maximize revenues through intercarrier billing, which can then be invested back into the business enabling rapid ROI.
